COVID-19 (C-19) and Our World

by Jim Lewis

This is going to be short and sweet. I want to look at C-19, testing, death rates and associated political ramifications.

Where are we at now? All you hear from your governors, main stream media and health officials is how many new cases are showing up every week. They say, “We are having a second wave and we have to take more action to contain it”!

Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!

Notice that they quit talking about the most important thing, the death rate from C-19.

First, you have to explore other States websites’, talk to people who live there to get an idea of how each State is counting “new” C-19 cases. I have a sister-in-law, who lives in Louisiana. She is pretty liberal, I am telling you this so you won’t think I only get my data from conservative sources. Anyway, she told us that in Louisiana if you test positive for C-19, they contact trace you and everyone you have come into contact with is also counted as a new C-19 case.

Another problem is that different states report statistics on the epidemic differently.

Some states, such as Arizona, Ohio, Michigan, and Virginia, include probable cases and deaths in their totals.1

Let me give you some anecdotal evidence from here in SW Ohio. Three 20 somethings went down to one of the free community COVID testing stations to get tested. They weren’t sick, actually, they were bored so they went in to get tested. They filled out the paperwork and waited and waited. After 2 hours they still hadn’t been tested, so they left. About four days later, they each got a letter from the testing station telling them they had tested positive for COVID-19!

That’ll make the new case counts sky rocket!

Let’s look at some hard data from the Centers for Disease Control website.  For Week 17, April 19-25 there were 701,913 tests performed, with 112,298 of those tests being positive. That means 16% were positive cases of those tested for C-19.2 Let’s fast forward to Week 27, June 28- July 4, there were 1,723,770 tests done with 151,949 being positive. That means 8.8% of those tested were new cases of C-19.3

They say we have a spike in C-19 case? They are doing over twice as many tests now versus 11 weeks ago but when you look at the percentages, the number of positive tests measured against the number of tests done, is actually going down!

If this virus is spreading as fast as they say it is, after doing over twice as many tests in week 27 as they did in week 17, wouldn’t you expect to see the number of confirmed cases really go up? Not just by 39,000 more cases.

Next, let’s take a quick look at what the CDC says about deaths due to C-19. The CDC says:

“The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) collects death certificate data from vital statistics offices for all deaths occurring in the United States. Based on death certificate data available on July 9, 2020, 5.5% of all deaths occurring during the week ending July 4, 2020 (week 27) were due to pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19 (PIC). This is the eleventh consecutive week of a declining percentage of deaths due to PIC. The percentage is below the epidemic threshold of 5.8% for week 27, but above the baseline of 5.4%.”4

So, for 11 weeks straight (it is now 12) the death rate from COVID-19 has been DECLINING.

Why then all the new lock-downs, and mask mandates?

This is where it gets into politics. The progressives, democrats and republicans, want to put the brakes on the economy, make people mad so that they can blame Trump, and try to win the election for Biden that way. On the issues like the economy, jobs, and defense they have no opposing plan to offer that would make things better. What they want to implement are more socialist policies that will destroy our economy, our wealth and our American way of life.

Their plans are all about gaining and then securing their power.

Look at a bill currently in Congress, H.R.5717 – Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act of 2020.5 They want to license you to own your guns and also to be able to purchase ammunition! They want all future gun purchases to be done under a license, without said license you cannot purchase a firearm or ammunition. Full gun registration will not be far behind once we start down this slippery slope. Once you are licensed they know where to go to get your guns.

While our attention is all focused on COVID, they are trying to sneak a bill through to strip your God-given right to unhindered self-defense. They want to do away with the guarantees provided by the 2nd Amendment that specifically prohibits the federal government from INFRINGING on our God-given right to keep and bear arms!

If you want to maintain your individual freedoms and liberties, if you want the capitalistic economy that has made the United States the envy of every other nation in the world, an economy that has given us a standard of living unparalleled in the history of the world, you know who you must vote for.

On the other hand, if you want a society where you are made to feel guilty for what you have worked for, for the things you have, if you want a society of political correctness where you have to watch everything you say and do, if you want a society where the government wants to not only guarantee equal opportunities but also guarantee equal outcomes, if you are willing to trade your freedom and your liberty for a little security, if you like having the government tell you how you will live, where you can freely go, what businesses can be open and how they will operate and who they must serve then you want to vote for the progressive democrats.

Once last thing, I would be willing to bet $10 that if Trump does lose this election, COVID-19 will magically become a non-issue right after the election.

Make no mistake, the progressive democrats are using this issue to win an election, don’t let them get away with it.
