Big-Tech More Powerful than the U.S. Government? Not Even Close

By: Michael Boldin

While big-tech censorship is concerning, it’s absurd to claim Facebook and Amazon have more power than the federal government in Washington D.C., the largest government in the history of the world.

But that’s the kind of message we’re hearing more and more these days. Some have even asserted that these private tech companies have “more power than all three branches of the federal government.”

While mainstream media – and even the social kind – generally amplify messages that support the empire – they’re certainly not the ones with the standing army – or the ones using it to kill people around the world.

It’s important to remember that social media is literally designed to amplify the mainstream view – the popular one. As more people click on a post or “like” it – the more the algorithm shows it to new people. So, the real problem is that big-government is something that a lot of people like.

That’s a function of the education system. Personally, I think that’s a much bigger problem. If people weren’t taught from birth that government is the solution to every problem under the sun, maybe “alternative” views would be more….mainstream.

Oh – and the education system is run by government, not Facebook.

When people are getting slaughtered in Yemen, it’s not Twitter doing it. That’s a vassal state doing it with the support and funding of the U.S. imperial government.

When social media saves and stores your metadata – and more – the reason it’s dangerous is because they’re giving it to government. Or government is forcing them to turn it over.

The National Firearms Act of 1934 was not enacted by Instagram. And neither was the Gun Control Act of 1968. The social media platforms weren’t the ones enforcing gun control at record levels. That was Trump –the federal government.

Civil asset forfeiture is legalized theft. Government agents – cops, FBI, and the like do this – not TikTok.

I’m a big fan of the phrase #TaxationIsTheft. This is a good time to remind people that this is done by the IRS – and by companies that the IRS coerces into doing so.

It’s the federal reserve printing money out of thin air and destroying the last remaining shreds of value in the USD – Jack isn’t doing that.

I can guarantee you that Snapchat isn’t running the war on drugs. That’s government.

You know who executes “no-knock” warrants?  Police – Government agents. And they do it with the backing of federal government judges on the Supreme Court. Amazon isn’t doing that.

Speaking of police and the Supreme Court – who created “qualified immunity” out of thin air and forced it on all 50 states? No, it wasn’t social media. It was government.

A lot of people died due to the economic sanctions enforced on Iraq – before a full-scale invasion that killed even more people. I don’t recall YouTube doing that. It was the imperial government in Washington D.C.

So, in case you didn’t notice, yes, I’m much more concerned about the biggest and most powerful government in the history of the world – the former “federal” government in Washington D.C. – than….well, anything when it comes to the future of liberty.
