The Struggle for American Independence: The Intolerable Acts
In this episode, I cover the Intolerable Acts – a series of laws passed by British Parliament in early 1774 to punish the colonies (especially Massachusetts), for the destruction of tea. I cover the internal policies of the British ministry, and how several prominent figures in Britain protested the acts to no avail. As the British seek vengeance upon Boston, they hope that their policies would do much to isolate patriot sentiments in Boston from the other colonies, preventing interference from other places. However, this episode expresses why such a plan backfired in a monumental way.
