HB248 | Anti-Vaccination Bill

Urgent HB248 Call To Action:

HB248 Is a B I L L To enact section 3792.02 of the Ohio Revised Code to authorize an individual to decline a vaccination and to name this act the Vaccine Choice and Anti-Discrimination Act.

HB248 states that in the event a person, political subdivision, public official, or state agency requires an individual to be vaccinated, all of the following apply:

(1) The individual may decline the vaccination.

(2) To decline the vaccination, the individual must either;

submit a written statement to the person, political subdivision, public official, or state agency in which the individual declines to be vaccinated or verbally declare to the person, political subdivision, public office, or state agency that the individual declines to be vaccinated . In the event the individual is a minor, to decline the vaccination, the minor’s parent or guardian must submit the written statement or make the verbal declaration. The person, political subdivision, public official, or state agency must accept the written statement or verbal declaration in the format it was received.

(3) The written statement or verbal declaration must include at least one of the following reasons for declining the vaccination:

(a) Medical contraindications;
(b) Natural immunity;
(c) Reasons of conscience, including religious convictions.

The stories of employers demanding to know if their employees are vaccinated or just plain saying you have to be vaccinated to work here are growing. We need for our State legislature to quickly pass legislation that will protect all Ohioans from these violations of our privacy rights, both personal and medical.

Even if you have already contacted your State rep and State senator, you need to do so again, demand this bill be passed reminding them that for 2021 this legislation will make or break your vote for them in the next election. Tell them that you will not tolerate them dragging their feet or not coming out publicly in favor of the bill.

Remind them that the house leadership won’t be able to save them during the next election!

Testimony will start in about 35 minutes, please pray that the legislature will see the urgent need for this legislation and that speed in passing this is also necessary.

Please CALL and email the members of the Ohio Health Committee and your Ohio House representative. Then forward to your contacts.

Ohio House Bill 248 is scheduled for Sponsor Testimony for next Tuesday 5/18/21 at 11am in front of the House Health Committee.

 There is little time to see movement on this bill before the legislators go on break, so we need it to progress quickly through the legislature.

 Please email and call the Health Committee (contacts below) right away to let them know that this bill is very important to you and that you would like to see the committee make it a priority on their agenda.

 Hello Representative (insert name),

 House Bill 248 is very important to me. I believe that Ohioans should have ultimate authority over their medical decisions and a right to maintain privacy regarding those decisions. With the current climate of employers mandating COVID vaccines, businesses implementing vaccine passports, and those who decline either facing discrimination, I believe this bill is more urgent than any other legislation the legislature is currently hearing. Please ensure that HB248 is heard and PASSED promptly.

 Thank you for your time and consideration, (insert name)
