BBFL Christmas Message-2022
When writing a Christmas message your first thought is to talk about the Christmas star, the nativity, the birth of Christ or just about love. All of these things are good in themselves but have been over-used to the point that as soon as people start reading about them their minds tend to just shut down and you go through the motions of reading without comprehending what the writer is trying to convey to you.
Sad.
I am finding it very difficult to find a topic to base our message on, but I am going to give it the old college try.
What do I think of when Christmas Season rolls around? I think back over the previous 10 months, and I feel unworthy and when I feel this way, I lose the one thing I hold precious, HOPE.
As the years have gone by, I have finally learned what is really important about Christmas and Christ’s birth.
The hope provided us by the birth of Jesus.
We are living in times that can shake your faith, pull you down and make you fear for our Republic and the whole world. But no matter what is happening, what craziness is now the new normal according to progressives, we have hope because of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
First, we have to remember, God is in charge, nothing happens that he is not aware of. Second, remember that God so loved this world he gave us his only begotten son to die for us. Third, Jesus defeated sin and death for us, how sweet is that! Fourth, Christ went to sit at the right hand of God and to prepare a place for us so that where he is we may also be.
How can you think of these things and not have hope!
Now, instead of feeling gloomy until I would come out of my funk, I have a new view of Christmas, not one of presents, Christmas cards, tree lightings and tree trimming in our homes, but one of hope, love and faith because of what Christ did for us. This is also easy to carry with you into and through the New Year.
This year we here at BBFL are wishing you HOPE this year at Christmas, remember what it stands for and carry it with you through all of 2023)
Merry Christmas!
